Constitution and By-Laws of the Datu Manongsong Tribe Association
Preamble
We, the descendants of Datu Manongsong of Negros, Philippines, recognizing the importance of unity, mutual support, and the preservation of our shared heritage, do hereby establish this Constitution and By-Laws to guide our association in fostering familial bonds, promoting socio-economic development, and ensuring the well-being of future generations.
Article I: Name and Purpose
Section 1. Name
The association shall be known as the Datu Manongsong Tribe Association (hereinafter referred to as the “Association”).
Section 2. Purpose
The purpose of the Association is to:
- Unite the descendants of Datu Manongsong by fostering relationships among members, ensuring that all relatives are connected, recognized, and supported.
- Promote the welfare and development of all members through collaborative projects and initiatives focused on economic, social, political, cultural, and educational opportunities.
- Preserve and promote the cultural heritage and legacy of Datu Manongsong, passing on values, traditions, and historical knowledge to future generations.
- Provide mutual aid and support to members in times of need, ensuring that no member is left behind.
- Engage in community service and development projects that benefit both the members of the Association and the wider community.
Article II: Membership
Section 1. Eligibility
Membership in the Association is open to all individuals who can trace their lineage to Datu Manongsong, whether by direct descent or marriage.
Section 2. Types of Membership
- Regular Members: Descendants of Datu Manongsong by blood.
- Associate Members: Spouses of regular members and individuals adopted into the family.
- Honorary Members: Individuals who, while not related by blood or marriage, have made significant contributions to the welfare of the Association.
Section 3. Rights and Responsibilities of Members

- To participate in all meetings and activities of the Association.

Article III: Organizational Structure

Section 3. Board of Elders
The Board of Elders shall be composed of elected representatives from the major family clans of the Datu Manongsong lineage. The Board of Elders shall provide guidance and oversight to ensure that the Association remains aligned with its foundational values and objectives.
Section 4. Committees
The Association shall have the following standing committees to facilitate its operations:
- Cultural Committee: To preserve and promote the cultural heritage of the clan.
- Economic Development Committee: To create and oversee economic initiatives that benefit members.
- Social Welfare Committee: To provide mutual aid and support to members in need.
- Youth and Education Committee: To promote educational opportunities and the involvement of younger generations in the Association.
- Community Relations Committee: To handle the Association’s outreach and community service projects.
Article IV: Meetings
Section 1. General Assembly Meetings
The General Assembly shall meet annually at a time and place determined by the Executive Committee. Special meetings may be called as necessary.
Section 2. Executive Committee Meetings
The Executive Committee shall meet at least quarterly to plan and implement the Association’s activities. Special meetings may be called by the President as needed.
Section 3. Quorum
A quorum for General Assembly meetings shall consist of the members present during the official general assembly. For Executive Committee meetings, a quorum shall consist of a majority of its members.
Article V: Elections and Terms of Office
Section 1. Elections
Elections for officers shall be held every two years during the General Assembly meeting. Nominations shall be accepted from the floor, and voting shall be by secret ballot.

All officers shall serve a two-year term and may be re-elected for a maximum of three consecutive terms.
Section 3. Vacancies
In the event of a vacancy in any office, the Executive Committee shall appoint a replacement to serve the remainder of the term.

The Association shall collect annual membership dues from all members, the amount of which shall be determined by the General Assembly.

Article VII: Amendments
Section 1. Amendments
This Constitution and By-Laws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the General Assembly at any regular or special meeting, provided that the proposed amendments have been submitted in writing to the members at least 30 days prior to the meeting.
Article VIII: Dissolution
Section 1. Dissolution
In the event of the dissolution of the Association, any remaining assets shall be distributed to a charitable organization chosen by the General Assembly, which aligns with the Association’s objectives.

Terms of Office
- Committee Chairpersons and members shall serve for a term of two years, coinciding with the term of the Executive Committee.
- Chairpersons and members may be reappointed for consecutive terms based on their performance and the approval of the Executive Committee.
