THE COLLATERAL RELATIVES MONTEJAR, GOMEZ, PAGLINAWAN, BAGUIO
Let me now relate to you the story told to me by Rev. Walter Malahay regarding our collateral relatives: the Montejars, Gomez, Paglinawan, and Baguio families. Francisco fathered a child out of wedlock, who was named Leodegario. As illegitimate children at that time could not carry the family name, the child took his mother’s surname, Montejar. Thus, Leodegario Montejar was the first son of Francisco Malahay. According to Rev. Walter Malahay, Norberta had four sisters who married individuals with the surnames Gomez, Paglinawan, and Baguio. Rev. Walter Malahay's account differs significantly from that of Rev. Christian Malahay, which seems somewhat implausible. I cannot fully recall the names of the fathers of Simeon Gomez, Zosimo Paglinawan, and the Baguio individual. However, I remember that Simeon Gomez and his siblings are first-degree cousins of Enrique Malahay, and the father of Zosimo and Rafael Paglinawan, is also a first cousin of Enrique Malahay. Leodegario Montejar is a half-brother to Enrique Malahay.
